Sleep Tips & Advise

Sleep Tips & Advise

Swaddling- Firmly wrap your newborn for all sleeps, this helps baby settle quickly and stay asleep for longer. Miracle blankets - make effective swaddling very simple.

Lullaby CD - Your baby listened and enjoyed loud noise inside the womb, so baby will settle much more quickly with 'Time for Dreaming' CD rather than quiet. Try, vacuum noise or our 'Time for Dreaming' CD. Play it louder than baby is crying and leave on repeat. As baby quietens down and settles turn the volumn down to soothe and sleep.Click Me!

Sleep routine – Use the feed/play/sleep routine during the day and put your baby into bed as soon as you see a tired sign so she doesn’t get over-tired. Move to a structured routine with set sleep times once your baby is about 4 months old.

Self settling - Once your baby is over 3 months, ensure she can fall asleep at bedtime without being fed or rocked to sleep. This means she will have the skills to resettle herself during the night.

Baby sleeping bags – Start using a sleeping bag (coming soon) once your baby is no longer in the Miracle blanket, so there are no blankets to kick off or suffocate under. Getting into the sleeping bag tells your baby it’s sleep time, regardless of where baby is sleeping.

Dreamfeed - Feeding baby while there asleep at about 10pm, to ensure they have a full tummy to last through the night and baby doesn’t rely on feeding to get to sleep (For babies over 3 months old).

Consistency – Babies and toddlers learn all new skills through repetition and learning to sleep is no different. So it’s essential you choose a sleep program you are comfortable with and will use consistently until your child is sleeping through the night.

If you had a babysitter coming over to look after your toddler/child write a list as to what she is suppose to do and when thru out the day

eg   at 7am  when child wakes up help to get them dressed ask what they like

sit down together and have breakfast. Cerel

Ask child to put plate on bench

Help child to brush there teeth, wash face and brush there hair

Ask child to get there shoes so as we can get ready for Kindy,

Sit and read or chat with child

      and so on

Now once you have done this list for the Nanny/babysitter. LOOK!! at it and then take note of what you are asking and try to do this routine yourself everyday as this is what children need "is a routine'
